Florinda Meza nació el 8 de febrero de 1949 en Juchipila, Zacatecas, aunque creció en Guadalajara, Jalisco. Estudió actuación en el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y se abrió paso en el medio artístico a través de castings para televisión.
Su gran oportunidad llegó en los años 70, cuando fue seleccionada por Chespirito para formar parte del elenco de su programa, para encarnar a un personaje inolvidable de la serie del Chavo del 8: Doña Florinda.
Papel que la catapultó a la fama, una madre sobreprotectora y estricta que cuidaba celosamente a su hijo Quico en El Chavo del 8. Aunque el personaje solía dar bofetadas al a Don Ramón, su interpretación mostró matices cómicos y entrañables. Gracias a ese rol, Florinda Meza se convirtió en uno de los rostros más reconocidos de la televisión en América Latina.
Aunque cabe resaltar, que Doña Florinda se trató solo del inicio de una gama de personajes con Roberto Gómez Bolaños, pues a raíz de este éxito, se derivaron otros tantos como la Popis y la Chimoltrufia.
Florinda Meza vivió una intensa historia de amor con Roberto Gómez Bolaños, “Chespirito”, con quien compartió más de 30 años de relación.
Aunque al principio fue un romance discreto, con el tiempo confirmaron públicamente su vínculo. Se casaron en 2004, tras décadas de trabajo conjunto en programas como El Chavo del 8 y El Chapulín Colorado.
La actriz ha declarado que Chespirito fue el gran amor de su vida. Desde su fallecimiento en 2014, Florinda ha mantenido viva su memoria y ha defendido su legado con fuerza, tanto en entrevistas como en sus redes sociales.
Más allá de Chespirito
Florinda no solo actuó, también escribió y produjo varios programas, participó en otras series de Gómez Bolaños, como El Chapulín Colorado, Los Caquitos y Chespirito. En la etapa final del programa, colaboró como guionista y se involucró en la producción.
